The boyfriend and I are two hard-working men who are struggling, just like many others, during these tough economic times. We manage to get by and put a little away in savings. A winter nakation, prime get-away time, is pretty much out of the question. As much as we'd like to experience some sun and surf as a break from the winter doldrums, there are higher priorities in our lives.
Imagine our surprise when last week, an invitation arrived from a friend and his new partner to spend part of the week between Christmas and New Year's Day at their home in Madeira Beach, on the Gulf of Mexico, Florida. For the both of us, this is a dream-come-true. Of course, we wasted no time in replying "yes" to our thoughtful hosts.
These guys have an indoor pool, so it can snow in Florida and this is a nakation to beat all: we don't have to put on clothes from our bedroom all the way to the aqua-playground! Only if we want to go out anywhere do we need to deal with the eternal problem: What to wear? For two men on a tight budget (especially during the holiday season), this is a gift-to-be-remembered.
I've been to their home once, a couple of summers ago. This time will be the first for the boyfriend and I. Two other couples will be guests during the same period. We haven't met either one previously. Given the spirit of the season and the fact that it's an escape from the winter weather, I'm certain we'll all have a great visit.
I'm dreaming of a nude Christmas! I know we'll all make the yuletide gay! Ho-ho-ho!
